Michigan Online Gambling Generates All-time High Revenue in 2023

Michigan sports are on the rise in 2024, building from an impressive 2023. Last year, iGaming and sports betting ran in more than $2.3 billion, an 18% jump over 2022. The Michigan Gaming Control Board indicated this revenue consisted of $1.9 billion from iGaming and $420.4 million from sports betting. The Detroit Lions’ recent success and the Wolverines’ national championship have kept interest high. In December, digital sports betting hit a $583 million record, leading to a $4.6 billion total for the year. Overall gambling revenue indeed reflected this high level of engagement, with December reaching $181.4 million, a 20% increase from the previous year. Furthermore, significant board movements took place with Joni M. Thrower Davis and Andrew T. Palms’ reappointment and actions taken against illegal gaming operators. With sports betting on the rise in Michigan, 2024 looks to be another promising year for the industry.
