The Venetian Arena at the Sands China-operated Venetian hotel will be the venue for the Brooklyn Nets and the Phoenix Suns to play exhibition games on October 10 and October 12, 2025.

Sands China, part of the Las Vegas Sands (NYSE: LVS) organization, is managed by Dr. Miriam Adelson and Patrick Dumont. Dumont, president and COO of the casino giant, also owns the Dallas Mavericks, with Sands China being an exciting platform for NBA preseason events.

Mark Tatum, the NBA’s Deputy Commissioner and COO, expressed enthusiasm for showcasing NBA games in Macau. The matchup between the Nets and the Suns is expected to draw both seasoned and rising stars.

Featuring players like Bradley Beal, Devin Booker, and Kevin Durant, the Suns promise an exciting lineup for their games in Macau.

NBA Return to China Post Morey Incident

The NBA’s return to China after a five-year absence can be attributed in part to the past controversy involving then Houston Rockets GM Daryl Morey.

In 2019, Morey’s public support for Hong Kong protestors caused a rift between the NBA and Chinese officials. The league faced backlash from Chinese authorities, impacting its presence in the country.

The fallout of Morey’s actions affected the Houston Rockets’ relationship with China, prompting NBA Commissioner Adam Silver to acknowledge potential revenue losses due to strained ties with the country. Morey eventually left the Rockets in 2020, taking on a new role with the Philadelphia 76ers.

Potential Profitability of Macau Games

While financial details of the NBA’s venture in Macau remain undisclosed, Sands China is likely to benefit from the partnership due to the league’s popularity among Chinese fans. The upcoming NBA Flagship Store at The Londoner Macau will cater to fans worldwide with authentic NBA merchandise.

The Londoner, also operated by Sands China, will serve as a hub for fans to experience the NBA brand firsthand.
