The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department has concluded its investigation into the highly-publicized battery incident involving Cardi B at Drai’s Beachclub last Saturday. No charges will be pressed.

During her performance, Cardi B tossed her microphone at an audience member who had drenched her with a cup of liquid and ice. This occurred shortly after the rapper invited her fans to splash water on her to cool her down in the hot Vegas weather.

A police report was filed the next day, but not by the person hit by Cardi B’s mic. The report states that a 26-year-old woman standing beside the intended target filed the report, claiming that the microphone hit her shoulder after bouncing off its initial target.

“[The woman] reported that she is experiencing pain because of this incident and is going to go get medical attention after she returns home [Sunday],” the report read. It also mentioned that she delayed notifying the police because “the crowd was very large during this incident, and she was unable to complete a report with security or notify police at that time.”

However, the case was not referred to the district attorney since the police deemed there was “insufficient evidence” to charge Cardi B with a crime.

“On behalf of Cardi, we appreciate the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Dept’s diligent and prompt resolution of this matter,” said a joint statement from her attorneys, Drew Findling of Atlanta, and David Chesnoff and Richard Scholfeld of Las Vegas.

The incident received extensive media coverage, and the microphone involved is currently being auctioned on eBay for nearly $100K, with the bidding closing on Tuesday, Aug. 8.

This is not the first time Cardi B has resorted to throwing a microphone to make a point. At Drai’s nightclub just hours earlier, as seen in this popular TikTok video, she also threw a microphone at her DJ after performing her 2018 hit “I Like It.” According to a commenter on the video, she was upset that her songs were being cut off too early.
