Crossed wires led to a surprising incident at the Cosmopolitan on Saturday night, potentially causing ramifications for the Las Vegas casino resort.

Adam Levine, lead singer of Maroon 5, reportedly left the Cosmopolitan’s Barbershop Cuts & Cocktails nightclub early. This appearance followed the final performance of the “M5:LV” residency by his group at the Dolby Live theater in Park MGM.

Levine arrived on time at 11 p.m., but left by 11:15, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal. This was reportedly due to a miscommunication regarding the seating arrangements for his entourage of 40 and the overall crowd size at the venue.

“Somewhere along the line, what he thought was happening and what his management set up for him were different things,” said Craig Dee, the club’s general manager, according to a column by John Katsilometes.

An eyewitness, @vegasstarfish, tweeted less diplomatically, stating that “He threw a tantrum and stormed out.”

Although MGM Resorts International, which now owns both the Cosmopolitan and Park MGM, has been arranging “pop-up” performances by Dolby Live headliners at the smaller club, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reports that Levine was not obligated to perform for the all-VIP crowd. Rather, his appearance was meant to be a social one. The club’s house band, Radio Xx, had even set up a microphone on stage, hoping for Levine to join in.

However, when offered VIP seating at the front of the stage, Levine declined and decided to leave. He had preferred to sit in the “owner’s booth” at the back of the venue.

Could this job vacancy, advertised on the site localjobs.com, be the consequence of a stink raised by Adam Levine? (Scott Roeben/Vital Vegas)

Scott Roeben, the blogger behind Vital Vegas on Casino.org, noticed a job listing related to this incident. This suggests that there may be consequences for the casino resort.

It is unclear if Levine was paid for his appearance at the club, as most celebrity appearances in Vegas involve some form of commercial exchange, particularly when VIP invitations are involved.

Levine was accompanied by his bandmates James Carmichael and Sam Farrar, as well as his wife, Namibian model Behati Prinsloo.
