Barry Manilow Beats Elvis Presley’s Record with 637 Consecutive Sold-Out Shows in Las Vegas
Barry Manilow has officially broken one of Elvis Presley’s famous records by performing his 637th consecutive sold-out show at the Westgate in Las Vegas this weekend. The 80-year-old singer, who has 12 US No. 1 singles and is a Grammy, Tony, and Emmy winner, surpassed Presley’s record in a slow and steady manner, taking more than five times the amount of time it took Presley to achieve 636 consecutive sold-out shows from 1969 to 1976.
Manilow’s Astonishing Achievement
Barry Manilow began his Las Vegas residency at the Hilton in 1985 and has now maintained a record-breaking run of sold-out shows. After performing at Paris Las Vegas and touring the world, he returned to the Westgate in 2018, where he has continued to captivate audiences. While the exact night of his 637th show remains unclear, it was most likely intentionally kept vague to avoid a rush of fans trying to purchase tickets for a specific show.
The Westgate celebrated Manilow’s achievement during his Thursday night concert, where he was presented with the key to the Las Vegas Strip by Clark County Commissioner Tick Segerblom. In a generous gesture, Manilow will be donating all proceeds from this weekend’s performances to six charities.
Manilow’s Boundless Success
Following his record-breaking week, Barry Manilow has extended his residency at the Westgate through the holiday season of 2024. With sold-out shows night after night, Manilow expressed his excitement to continue performing at the Westgate, citing the fantastic audiences and the absence of any reason to stop playing.
Tickets for Manilow’s new Westgate dates are set to go on sale on October 6 at 10 a.m. through Ticketmaster.
