Genius Sports secures exclusive rights to the NFL Official League Data for the sports betting industry through Next Gen Stats distribution network.
Genius Sports, a sportsbook partner, offers live, real-time statistics used by oddsmakers to set lines. The third-party entity also distributes live NFL video streams to sportsbooks.
Genius Sports expands its NFL offering with the introduction of BetVision, enabling bettors to place bets while watching live video streams on certain sportsbook apps.
Genius representatives state that BetVision “revolutionizes the way fans engage with their favorite sporting events like the NFL, with integrated odds, promotions, real-time statistics, break-in-action offers, graphic overlays, and more.”
BetVision is initially available on the Caesars Sportsbook, Fanatics, and BetRivers mobile sportsbooks.
In-Game, In-Video Betting
BetVision allows bettors to watch and bet on NFL games simultaneously.
These low latency live game video streams feature integrated betting odds and bet slips and will be enhanced by in-game betting alerts and on-screen offers during breaks in the action to increase relevance, drive engagement, and retain customers,” the Genius Sports statement read.
Kenneth Fuchs, COO and head of sports at Caesars Digital, expects the immersive, real-time betting experience to enhance the platform’s betting and viewing experience.
BetVision will be an innovative product that delivers a cutting-edge watch and bet experience,” said Fuchs.
The BetVision product will continue to evolve with additional features and functionality throughout the NFL season and playoffs. Bettors who prefer not to bet while watching a stream have the option to disable the graphic overlays.
NFL Broadcast Streams Limited
NFL fans should note that not all weekly NFL games can be streamed on sports betting apps. The NFL restricts the games available for streaming on sportsbook platforms.
Each Genius Sports sportsbook partner only streams nationally distributed and local, regionalized live NFL games each week. The streamed content is based on the bettor’s physical location using geolocation technology.
Genius’ Renewed Partnership
Genius Sports recently extended its data deal with the NFL through the 2027-28 season.
With the NFL being the most popular sport for betting in the US, the contract extension with the NFL is likely a significant investment. While the specific amount of the exclusive data deal was not disclosed, Casino.org’s financial reporter Todd Shriber estimated that Genius Sports paid approximately $1 billion for the initial four-year agreement in 2021.
The NFL’s partnership with Genius Sports is a logical one, as the football league maintains an 8% ownership stake in the company. Genius Sports is majority-owned by Apax Partners, a private equity firm based in London.
