San Francisco 49ers Favored to Win Super Bowl LVIII

The San Francisco 49ers have emerged as the co-favorites to win Super Bowl LVIII with +550 odds. This comes after their impressive 4-0 start to the season.
The 49ers and Philadelphia Eagles are the only undefeated teams heading into Week 5. These two teams also met in last season’s NFC Championship, with the Eagles coming out on top and securing a spot in Super Bowl LVII.
In the NFC, four teams hold a 3-1 record, including the Lions, Tampa Bay Bucs, Seattle Seahawks, and Dallas Cowboys.
Meanwhile, the defending champion Kansas City Chiefs suffered a narrow upset in their season opener against the Detroit Lions on Thursday Night Football. Since then, they have won three straight games and are currently tied with the 49ers as the favorites to win the Super Bowl with +550 odds.
From the AFC, the Baltimore Ravens, Buffalo Bills, and Miami Dolphins are also sitting at a 3-1 record. Unlike the NFC, there are no undefeated teams in the AFC at the start of October.
Prior to the season, the Chiefs were the preseason favorites at +600 odds. They were followed by the Eagles (+650), Bills (+900), and 49ers (+1000).
Public Favors 49ers in All NFL Futures
After the Chiefs stumbled in their first game, their odds dropped to +700. On the other hand, the 49ers cruised to a dominating 30-7 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 1, propelling them to the top spot with +650 odds to win the Super Bowl.
The 49ers continued their strong start with wins over the Los Angeles Rams (30-23) in Week 2 and the New York Giants (30-12) on Thursday Night Football in Week 3. With a 3-0 record, their odds slightly improved to +600.
In Week 4, the 49ers remained undefeated with a 35-16 win against the Arizona Cardinals, pushing their season record to 4-0 (2-0 in divisional play). They now share the top spot with the Chiefs, both listed at +550 odds to win the Super Bowl.
The 49ers’ conference and divisional futures also saw improvements. Their odds to win the NFC Championship increased from +380 to +200, while their odds to win the NFC West jumped from -195 to -550, making them the clear divisional favorite.
Initially, oddsmakers set the 49ers’ win total at 10.5 over/under. However, their undefeated start has caused that number to rise to 12.5 o/u.
CMAC Attack and Perfect Purdy
Running back Christian McCaffery has been a force for the 49ers, scoring four touchdowns against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 4. He currently has 600 total yards from scrimmage and is on pace to surpass 2,500 combined yards this season.
Quarterback Brock Purdy, who started the last five games of the previous season due to Jimmy Garoppolo’s injury, is yet to lose a regular season game as a starter. In his second season with the 49ers, Purdy has completed 72.3% of his passes for 1,019 yards, five touchdowns, and zero interceptions.
Upcoming Challenges: Dallas Rematch and Smashmouth Double Dip
The 49ers have two prime-time games in October, facing the Dallas Cowboys (3-1) on Sunday Night Football in Week 5, and visiting the Minnesota Vikings (1-3) for a Monday Night Football matchup in Week 7.
In addition, the 49ers will play against two AFC North “smashmouth” teams. They will travel to Cleveland to take on the Browns (2-2) in Week 6, and host the Cincinnati Bengals (1-3) in Week 8.
This Sunday night, the 49ers face a significant test against the Cowboys, who are seeking revenge after last year’s NFC Divisional Round loss to the 49ers. The 49ers opened as a -3.5 favorite at home, and both teams hold a 3-1 against the point spread record this season.
