Las Vegas has experienced a surge in passenger numbers at the main airport. In October, Harry Reid International reported nearly 5.5M flyers arriving or departing from Sin City. This marks the highest number ever recorded in a single month in the airport’s history.

Breaking the previous record of 5.2M passengers set in October 2022, the October 2023 record marked a 10% increase and bested this year’s record airport visitation of 5 million, set in May.

Nearly all of those numbers were produced domestically, with Southwest Airlines leading the carrier pack by transporting 1.9 million in and out of Harry Reid.

International travel was much smaller — 315,147 October flyers — though it was the biggest monthly international number ever and a nearly 30% increase over October 2022.

Clark County Director of Aviation, Rosemary Vassiliadis, praised this growth by saying, “As 2023 passenger volume continues to outpace 2022’s levels, we are seeing the impact of our community’s growth and its evolution into the sports and entertainment capital of the world.”

Not a Record Destined to Stand

October’s monthly record is expected to stand for exactly 30 days — until Harry Reid releases its numbers for November. Though normally a slow month, the inaugural Formula 1 Grand Prix drew more than 105K spectators to the Strip from Nov. 15-18, the overwhelming majority of whom are thought to have flown in from Europe.
