Fontainebleau Las Vegas and the Landmark Hotel and Casino share a staggering story of construction delays. Construction on Fontainebleau Las Vegas began in 2007, but a financial crisis led to its bankruptcy. In 2017, investor Carl Icahn bought the building and sold it seven years later. The property is now known as The Drew Las Vegas. Construction on the project was halted in March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2021, Jeffrey Soffer reacquired Fontainebleau and opened it to the public in December 2023. Soffer, the visionary behind the project, managed to bring his dream to fruition after winning it back.
