An interesting case involving the death of an Idaho man outside a Las Vegas casino has taken a major turn. He was found with fatal injuries and his case is now being treated as a homicide investigation.

In 2019, Christopher Tapp, 47, of Idaho, was exonerated for the 1996 rape and murder of 18-year-old Angie Dodge, the same year that the true perpetrator was apprehended.

On October 19, 2023, Tapp was found suffering from serious head injuries in the vicinity of Resorts World, subsequently leading to his death in a hospital.

The case is now believed to involve foul play, with authorities urging witnesses to come forward.

Wrongful Conviction

Tapp was wrongfully convicted by an Idaho jury for Dodge’s murder based on a confession despite conflicting evidence, new information sharing that this wrongful conviction was solely due to manipulated interrogation tactics.

Despite Tapp’s confession, DNA evidence didn’t match and it was determined that he had been manipulated and threatened with the death penalty, as the Innocence Project highlighted.

True Criminal Exposed

It was years later that the truth came to light – the real murderer was identified as Brian Leigh Dripps Sr, who had lived across the street from the victim at the time of her murder.

Tapp, having been exonerated, subsequently sued and received a settlement of $11.4 million for his wrongful conviction.
