A shocking incident unfolded on the Las Vegas Strip as a man was arrested for mistreating a helpless puppy on a scorching sidewalk, desperate for the dog to relieve itself.
Earlier in the week, an alert dog trainer from California identified Tommy Chen pushing the puppy’s limits on the hot sidewalk amid a troubling 99-degree heat.
In spite of warnings from a concerned citizen, Chen persistently continued his harmful actions, prompting a call to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) by the same individual.
According to reports on Las Vegas TV station KLAS, Chen was found forcibly restraining a small dog on the ground when officers arrived at the scene.
The distressed puppy was trapped on its side under Chen’s hold, causing discomfort and yelping in distress.
Despite repeated orders to release the puppy, Chen resisted the officers until handcuffs were eventually applied.
Upon searching Chen’s backpack, law enforcement discovered a semi-automatic pneumatic weapon that fires .68 caliber pepper pellets.
Chen mentioned his urgency to allow the dog to relieve itself so he could return to a nearby casino.
Charged with various offenses, including carrying a concealed weapon without a permit, resisting public officers, and mistreatment of an animal, Chen was apprehended and subsequently posted bond the following day.
With the legal proceedings underway, Chen was advised to maintain good behavior, refrain from carrying weapons, avoid alcohol consumption, and steer clear of domesticated animals as per the terms set by authorities.
As for the fate of the dog and the severity of its injuries, there has been no official confirmation as yet.
