Fontainebleau Las Vegas revealed on Wednesday its plan to convert the Oasis Pool Deck into an ice rink from Nov. 27 to Jan. 5. This move will make it the third Las Vegas Strip casino resort to repurpose its unused pools into skating rinks for the upcoming winter season.

“The unveiling of our Winter Wonderland as we approach our one-year anniversary on December 13 will make this holiday season even more special,” said Maurice Wooden, the president of the resort, in a press release. “We are grateful for the support of the Las Vegas community in our first year, and we look forward to celebrating with our guests as they experience all the magic, joy, and surprises we have in store.”

The Fontainebleau’s rink covers an area of 8,000 square feet and will be open daily at a rate of $25 per person. Members of the casino’s rewards program can bring up to six guests with the admission fee waived. Skate fees, including rentals, range from $25 to $35.

Tickets for the ice rink will be available for purchase starting from Oct. 18.

Icy Move

While it’s not confirmed, it’s highly likely that the idea of the ice rink at Fontainebleau was inspired by the Cosmopolitan, which has been hosting a similar event at its Boulevard Pool since Winter 2011.

Fontainebleau’s rink is double the size of Cosmopolitan’s and was announced before MGM’s similar plans.

The Cosmopolitan usually operates their ice rink from mid-November to early January, running from afternoon until midnight. Details on pricing and reservations are yet to be announced.

Lastly, as previously reported, the Venetian is also joining the trend by transforming one of its pools into a rink with a different twist.

The Tao Beach Dayclub will become Flipper’s at Tao Beach, a disco roller rink featuring part-owner Usher.

Flipper’s will be open from noon to 8 p.m. Thursdays through Sundays, starting from $20 per hour or $75 for a day pass. Reservations can be made here.
