Las Vegas was the backdrop for one of seven recent lawsuits accusing Sean “Diddy” Combs of sexual misconduct. The lawsuit was filed on behalf of an unidentified Arizona woman who alleges that the rap mogul drugged and raped her at Planet Hollywood in 2014.
The incident reportedly took place in Combs’ suite at the Las Vegas Strip casino resort, where he offered the plaintiff drinks from open bottles of alcohol. After consuming two drinks, the plaintiff felt disoriented and woke up the next morning realizing she had been assaulted by Combs.
The civil complaint, which includes allegations of battery and false imprisonment, is one of seven lawsuits filed against Combs by Texas-based attorney Tony Buzbee in the Southern District of New York.
The Beginning
The harrowing ordeal began earlier on the same evening at a celebrity-filled Memorial Day pool party at Club Rehab at the former Hard Rock Hotel & Casino (now Virgin Hotels Las Vegas). Attending the party, as per the lawsuit, were Combs, Nicki Minaj, Mary J. Blige, and Lil’ Kim — all of whom Combs had produced music for.
The plaintiff had received an invitation to Club Rehab from a promoter known as “International Smoove.”
“Smoove made it clear that this was an exclusive celebrity party and only the plaintiff was invited, not her two friends,” the lawsuit details. “Despite feeling uncomfortable with this restriction, the plaintiff, urged by her friends, decided to attend the party to network with the influential personalities present.”
Smoove then invited the plaintiff to an after-party at Combs’ Planet Hollywood suite, where she filmed Combs before being offered a drink that the lawsuit claims was spiked with the date-rape drug GHB (Gamma-Hydroxybutyrate).
“Despite feeling nauseous and dizzy about 40 minutes after consuming 1-2 drinks from the Ciroc bottle, plaintiff followed Combs’ suggestion and took a few sips, believing it was vodka from one of the open bottles,” the lawsuit states.
When the plaintiff expressed feeling unwell and wanting to leave, she was directed by “Smoove” to an empty bedroom in the suite and instructed to rest until she felt better.
“Upon awakening,” the complaint narrates, the plaintiff “saw Combs in the room, shirtless and loudly arguing with someone over the phone. He was the only other person present, and it was evident that someone else had shared the bed with her.”
According to the lawsuit, the woman waited for Combs to depart and then returned to the Rio hotel where her friends were staying. The complaint alleges that she slept for two days, despite her friends’ efforts to wake her up.
“Following the assault, the plaintiff experienced intense emotional distress and mental health difficulties, feeling disgusted and profoundly depressed,” the lawsuit reveals. “The traumatic incident haunts the plaintiff every day.”
Combs, 54, is presently in custody in New York and is set to face trial in May 2025 on federal charges of sex trafficking, racketeering, and conspiracy.
