Betting trends in Canada for the U.S. Presidential election set for Nov. 5 show that former President Donald Trump is now favored, based on data from different sportsbooks offering odds on the upcoming election.
The betting landscape has been changing rapidly, with odds swinging back and forth ever since Vice President Kamala Harris took the spotlight for the Democratic Party following President Joe Biden’s exit from the race earlier this year.
Odds Favor Trump Post VP Debate
Various sportsbooks are setting odds for the election. For instance, BetVictor has Trump at -188 and Harris at +150, while BetMGM shows Trump at -189 and Harris at +150. The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) has Trump at -182 and Harris at +145. FanDuel Canada’s odds are Trump -196 and Harris +158.
David Merry, a trader at BetVictor, stated, “Trump has been steadily gaining momentum in the betting category. We have seen consistent support for Trump, with his odds improving considerably. Trump has also been a favorite among Popular Vote Winner bettors.”
BetMGM: Majority of Bets on Trump
“Most bets in Ontario have been in favor of Trump, with a mix of smaller and larger bets. However, we have seen an increase in support for Harris in recent days, leading to a shift in her odds. With the polls indicating a close race, it is interesting that Trump is now the frontrunner in betting odds,” said a BetMGM spokesperson.
In recent news, Trump criticized Harris and the Democratic administration for border issues, crime rates, and negative rhetoric. Trump’s appeal seems higher among male voters, while Harris struggles with male support. Despite invitations, Harris has not yet agreed to appear on Joe Rogan’s podcast, which has a vast male audience.
Betting Activity Expected to Surge
Proline reports that the majority of bets are on Trump, with significant support for Harris as well. Following the VP debate, Trump’s odds have improved, making him the current favorite in betting circles.
BetMGM revealed that after the debate between Trump and Harris, odds briefly favored Harris but have since shifted back towards Trump, with the majority of bets and money backing the former President.
