With just hours remaining before Election Day, presidential and vice-presidential candidates campaigned in Nevada for last-minute rallies.
Last week, former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris held political rallies in Nevada to attract voters in this closely contested race.
“I am urging you to dream big again, dream big again. This will be America’s new golden age,” Trump declared to a lively crowd at Lee’s Family Forum in Henderson, Nev. He also supported the death penalty for any migrant who kills an American citizen or law enforcement officer.
Harris reiterated her proposal to have Medicare cover a home health aide for afflicted seniors to receive care at home.
“It’s time for a new generation of leadership in America, and I am prepared to offer that as the next President of the United States,” Harris stated during her speech at Craig Ranch Amphitheater in North Las Vegas. “Nevada, you know me, I am not afraid of tough fights.”
On Saturday, Harris’ running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz (D), and Trump’s running mate, US Sen. JD Vance (R, Ohio), also made appearances in separate events in the Las Vegas Valley.
Donald Trump will fade into history whether he likes it or not,” Walz predicted.
“What would you do to fix the border? Kamala Harris? Well, nothing comes to mind … What ideas do you have for lowering the cost of groceries and housing for American citizens? Nothing comes to mind,” Vance said.
J. Lo in Region
One of the most anticipated recent appearances was singer and actress Jennifer Lopez, who campaigned with Harris in Nevada.
Lopez was upset by a recent offensive joke made by comedian Tony Hinchcliffe at a pro-Trump rally in New York, where he referred to Puerto Rico as a “floating island of garbage.”
It wasn’t just Puerto Ricans who were offended that day, OK? It was every Latino in this country, it was humanity and anyone of decent character,” said Lopez, whose family originated from Puerto Rico.
“You know what? We should be emotional. We should be upset. We should be scared and outraged. We should. Our pain matters. We matter,” Lopez expressed. “Your voice and your vote matters.”
Very Close Race
The most recent polls indicate a tight race between Trump and Harris.
One recent survey from Emerson College Polling/RealClearWorld showed Harris at 48% and Trump at 47% among likely voters surveyed in Nevada. The poll’s margin of error was 3.6%.
The poll was conducted between October 29 and 31, with 700 Nevada residents surveyed.
As of Friday, early in-person voting ceased in Nevada. Voters will have the opportunity to vote in person on Tuesday, Election Day.
Nevada is one of the key states being closely watched in the US to determine the winner of the presidential race.
Meanwhile, the Henderson, Nev. police are investigating a recent incident of vandalism at a residence in the Inspirada neighborhood. Nazi symbols and other offensive vandalism were found at the property, which had a Harris-Walz campaign sign displayed.
