Google is making changes to its sensitive wagering category, allowing social casino mobile app operators to customize ads. This update will be implemented on December 4.
The adjustment applies to Google’s “sensitive interest category,” which includes various forms of traditional wagering. Advertisements falling under this category can now be personalized.
The gambling-sensitive interest category will now allow personalization for social casino gaming apps. However, there are specific requirements that operators must meet to advertise with Google.
Social casinos offer free-to-play options and do not involve real money rewards, distinguishing them from traditional iGaming platforms. However, some social casino operators have faced regulatory issues due to misleading in-app purchases that may appear to offer real money rewards.
Google aims to be flexible in its advertising policies, as demonstrated by its recent decision to allow daily fantasy sports operators and lottery courier services to run ads in multiple states.
Only licensed gaming companies are allowed to advertise on the platform.
