Ocean One Bar & Grille, the most affordable dining spot on the Las Vegas Strip for nearly two decades, has permanently shut its doors. The go-to place for budget-friendly meals offered $5.99 lunches and $6.99 dinners.

Leaving a note on the property inside Planet Hollywood’s Miracle Mile Shops, Ocean One’s management mentioned that their lease had ended and they were looking for a new location.

While this may be the case, it seems there is more to the story than what is being shared.

In September, an eviction notice was posted on Ocean One’s door on a Friday, and the restaurant’s name was removed from the Miracle Mile’s website. However, it reopened the following Monday as if nothing had happened.

Upon reopening, Ocean One increased its prices to $7.99 for lunch and $8.99 for dinner; still a remarkable deal.

It is hard to fathom how they managed to serve half-pound sirloin burgers, Mexican wings, and tortilla salad at such low prices.

Food critic Keith Lee, known for his reviews of Las Vegas restaurants on TikTok for eight years, has relocated to Texas. The 28-year-old former MMA fighter gained popularity for his Vegas restaurant reviews in 2021, with one of his videos even being parodied on “Saturday Night Live.”

Lee had already begun exploring restaurants in Dallas and Houston earlier this year, raising curiosity among his followers.

In a recent video posted to his 16.7 million followers, Lee expressed gratitude to everyone he encountered in Vegas.

Dining Ins & Outs

Texas-based Whataburger has submitted an application to open a second location in Las Vegas, on Nellis Boulevard south of Bonanza Road. The chain’s first outlet debuted at the Waldorf Astoria in February and operates in 15 states with over 930 locations.

A dining and pickleball complex called Chicken N Pickle recently opened in Henderson, Nevada, offering an interesting combination of activities. Kansas City Chiefs stars Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes are reported investors in the company, which has locations in several cities.

Taco Escobarr is set to open at 509 Fremont St., the former space of The Smashed Pig. This new spot will bring a taste of Colombian-inspired cuisine to downtown Las Vegas.

The Hush Puppy, a beloved Southern restaurant that has been serving for almost five decades on West Charleston Boulevard, is expanding to Neonopolis building on Fremont Street. It will be taking over the space previously occupied by Banger Brewing.

And lastly, the famous Argentinian gelato shop Freddo Gelato Tradizionale has launched its first Las Vegas location in the southwest area.
