Casino Crime News Roundup: Former Poker Dealer from Cleveland Facing Charges

A poker dealer at JACK Cleveland Casino was terminated and subsequently arrested for allegedly stealing from the gaming table at the Ohio-based casino.

Jason Saliba, 51, from North Olmsted, Ohio, faces 14 counts of breaching casino gaming regulations, along with a theft charge.

He made an appearance in Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court last week, as reported by Cleveland.com.

A concerned visitor at the casino alerted management on September 6 about Saliba’s alleged theft of chips from players’ bets, according to Cleveland.com.

Following the review of surveillance footage, Saliba was dismissed from the casino on September 7.

Authorities stated that multiple thefts occurred within a month, amounting to less than $1,000.

Prior Incident of Cheating

In a separate case, Ellis Quinn, 62, from Memphis, Tenn., was arrested for cheating during a craps game at the same casino in July, per Cleveland.com. Quinn managed to win $5,080 through his actions.

He was said to have placed extra bets on the winning number after the dice had been rolled.

Surveillance footage at the casino captured his illegal activities, as authorities intervened.

Quinn had a history of cheating at multiple casinos and had previously been banned from gambling establishments in Ohio and Pennsylvania.

Robbery at Hard Rock Lot Site

An incident of robbery occurred in the parking lot of Hard Rock Casino Rockford in Illinois on Thursday.

An unidentified woman had her purse stolen, containing an unspecified amount of cash.

The suspect fled the scene, according to reports from Illinois TV station WTVO. Fortunately, no harm came to the victim.

Local law enforcement is actively seeking the suspect, with plans to utilize casino surveillance footage in the identification process.

The casino released a statement acknowledging the incident in their parking lot and expressed confidence in resolving the investigation swiftly with the help of advanced technology and collaboration with law enforcement.
