The woman who took a coffin with a body from a Las Vegas funeral home this summer will not go to prison. Las Vegas resident Patricia Sierra, 47, will instead participate in court-ordered drug treatment, as per court documents reviewed by KLAS-TV/Las Vegas.

Sierra was captured on security footage breaking into Affordable Cremation & Burial, moving a body out the door, and then abandoning it in the landscaping outside. She then left the coffin next to the body and fled the scene.

Initially facing charges of burglary, grand larceny, and disturbing human remains in relation to the strange incident, Sierra pleaded guilty to one count of burglary in a plea agreement on September 24. She agreed to participate in the drug program administered by the Clark County District Court and received probation, according to the KLAS report.
Clark County District Court Judge Tara Clark Newberry approved the plea agreement on December 5, stating that if Sierra violates probation, she will have to serve at least a year in prison.
The court’s treatment program includes electronic monitoring and random drug testing.
Array of Evidence
At 3:30 a.m. on August 27, police received a call reporting a body found in front of the facility at 2127 W. Charleston Blvd. The deceased was identified through paperwork near the casket.
Sierra was apprehended two days later after someone spotted her while shopping at a convenience store and called the police.
Despite claiming no recollection of the events, Sierra expressed remorse and stated that she did not intend to harm anyone. She mentioned drinking six beers before the incident and having a tendency to black out when consuming alcohol.
Sierra was in custody awaiting her first session in the court’s treatment program.
