Caesars Entertainment recently unveiled its latest casino resort in Danville, Virginia.
The grand opening of Caesars Virginia saw a crowd of excited guests lining up outside the $750 million resort complex, which is situated on the site of the former Dan River Mills textile manufacturing campus. The property has preserved its historical significance with the iconic Three Sisters smokestacks that define Danville’s skyline.
Originally scheduled for December 12, Caesars Virginia delayed its opening to December 17 to ensure a proper inauguration.
Guests who waited patiently for the opening expressed their satisfaction with the experience.
Resident Dorothy Walker shared her pride with CBS7, describing the new resort as transformative for the city, adding vibrancy and beauty to the once vacant space.
Local Douglas Whorley echoed the sentiment, stating, “When you walk in, you feel like you’re in Las Vegas.”
Caesars Collaborates with Tribal Partners
While Caesars leads the luxury gaming resort with 1,500 slot machines, 79 live dealer tables, a World Series of Poker Room, and more, the development is a joint effort between Caesars Entertainment and the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians (EBCI).
Caesars has a long-standing partnership with the EBCI, operating their two tribal casinos in North Carolina – Harrah’s Cherokee and Harrah’s Cherokee Valley River. The collaboration expands with Caesars Virginia in Danville, reflecting a commitment to economic growth and community development.
EBCI Chief Michell Hicks expressed pride in the partnership, citing the opening of Caesars Virginia as a significant milestone for both entities and the Danville community.
In addition to its expansive 90,000 square feet of gaming space, Caesars Virginia boasts 320 hotel rooms, 50,000 square feet of meeting facilities, and a 2,500-seat theater. The resort also features a full-service spa and pool for guests.
Caesars Virginia positions Danville as a premier dining destination with culinary offerings curated by Michelin-starred chef Gordon Ramsay at Ramsay’s Kitchen. Other dining options include Dan Dan Noodle, Three Smokes, and the 500 Block Food Hall.
Celebratory Events
The grand opening of Caesars Virginia featured NBA legend Dennis Rodman as the master of ceremonies. The event commenced with a parade of luxury cars weaving through Danville, followed by Rodman placing the first sports bet at the casino.
The City of Danville anticipates significant annual revenue from Caesars Virginia, with a portion of the casino’s proceeds contributing to local services and development projects.
