The six-year-old girl was left in a parked Honda CRV for approximately 45 minutes while the adults were inside the Bensalem, Pa. gaming facility on Monday morning, according to local authorities.

The young girl, whose name was not disclosed, was identified as the child of the two individuals, as reported by the Bucks County Courier Times, a local news source.

A security guard at the casino discovered the two adults who were engaged in gambling at table games, as per the Courier Times. The guard escorted them back to the Honda.

The individuals were identified as To Yeung and Chunyahn Wang, both aged 44 and from Brooklyn, N.Y. They were each charged with endangering the welfare of a child.

The Pennsylvania State Police were informed about the incident involving the girl around 11 a.m. on Monday. It seems that the casino security personnel initially noticed the young girl.

Authorities later placed the girl under the care of undisclosed relatives, according to Pennsylvania TV station WPVI.

Following their apprehension, Wang and Yeung appeared before Bucks County Magisterial District Court Judge Joseph Falcone on Monday.

Both defendants posted $3K bonds and were subsequently released from custody. Their cases were forwarded to local prosecutors.

During the time the girl spent alone in the car, the engine was turned off despite the outdoor temperature being in the low 20s and winds reaching 8 mph in Bensalem, according to online weather resources.

Girl Remains Unharmed

There were no reports of the young girl sustaining any injuries or cold-related illnesses. However, leaving a child unattended in a cold car can sometimes lead to hypothermia, as mentioned on a Mayo Clinic website.

The initial symptom of hypothermia is shivering due to the drop in body temperature. As the core body temperature falls below 95 degrees, more serious symptoms may occur.

Both the heart and respiratory system can experience malfunctions due to the decreased body temperatures. Without proper treatment, a person suffering from hypothermia could potentially lose their life.

Past Instances

In recent times, adults in Pennsylvania and other states have left children alone in cars parked at gaming establishments, sometimes on cold days and other times on hot days.

Individuals involved in these incidents are typically investigated and charged for endangering the welfare of the children.
