Construction is progressing on the Catawba Two Kings Casino project in Kings Mountain, North Carolina, a year after its groundbreaking. Developers indicate that the $1 billion venture is on track to launch in spring 2026, as reported by Yes! Weekly.
This development stands as one of the most significant private investments in Cleveland County’s history, poised to reshape the entertainment scene in the Charlotte area while reinforcing the Catawba Nation’s position in the local gaming sector.
The initial phase is set to debut next year, showcasing an array of more than 1,300 slot machines, 22 table games, a full-service restaurant and bar, alongside sports betting kiosks. The permanent casino, featuring enhanced gaming and facilities, is scheduled for completion in 2027, fully replacing the temporary operation that has been in place since 2021.
Job opportunities at the Catawba Two Kings Casino are expected to see substantial growth as construction continues, currently employing 490 workers with plans to add 2,000 more by 2027, when the primary casino is anticipated to open, according to Trent Troxel of the Catawba Nation Gaming Authority. This recruitment initiative will almost quintuple the local workforce, providing a significant boost to the regional economy.
The Catawba Nation indicates that proceeds from the project will finance housing and healthcare programs for tribal members. During last year’s groundbreaking ceremony, Catawba Nation Chief Brian Harris emphasized that casino revenues would enhance housing and healthcare initiatives for tribal members, offering opportunities not accessible to previous generations and highlighting how gaming profits can contribute to Indigenous community enhancements.
Conveniently situated near Charlotte and accessible via major highways, the Two Kings Casino aims to draw visitors from across North Carolina and neighboring states. Tribal leaders believe this phased rollout will help establish customer loyalty prior to the unveiling of the larger resort.
