Resorts World Las Vegas will begin charging hotel guests for self-parking, ending a months-long promotional period of free access that began earlier this summer. The casino-resort announced on Wednesday that guests staying at the hotel will now pay a flat fee of $21 to park.
The policy shift coincides with the debut of a new automated parking management system developed by Las Vegas-based Metropolis Parking. The system uses license plate recognition technology to eliminate the need for paper tickets or gate arms, aiming to streamline the entry and exit process. According to Metropolis, its platform is already in place at more than 1,500 sites across the United States.
While most visitors will now be subject to the $21 charge, certain groups will remain eligible for complimentary parking. Vehicles with Nevada license plates will continue to park free of charge, as will Genting Rewards members holding one of the program’s upper-tier statuses: Elite, Honors, Prime, Monarch, or Imperial.
Guests who are not automatically eligible for free parking can register their license plate and link it to their Genting Rewards account using the Metropolis app. Although multiple vehicles may be added under a single account, only one vehicle per account is permitted in the parking structure at any given time.
The updated parking structure follows a summer of guest-friendly incentives at the $4.3 billion resort. Owned by Malaysia’s Genting Group, Resorts World had previously announced in May that it would suspend paid parking through the end of August.
In a separate promotional move, the North Strip property unveiled a hotel package in mid-June that waived resort fees for stays booked through September 10.
With the new fee in place, only a handful of Strip properties now offer free parking to all guests. Treasure Island, Sahara Las Vegas, Circus Circus, and Casino Royale remain the exceptions. Elsewhere on the Strip, self-parking charges typically range from $20 to $40, with higher rates during special events and peak weekends.
