After a year-long hiatus, Bally’s Corporation unveiled an updated visual representation and a schedule for the casino resort they plan to establish near the under-construction stadium for the former Oakland Athletics, located on the site of the demolished Tropicana.

The Rhode Island-headquartered casino entity plans to convert its 26 acres of the total 35-acre site into an entertainment hub, including a Bally’s casino, dual hotel towers, a theater, and various retail and dining options. The $2 billion stadium with a capacity of 33,000 will utilize the remaining 9 acres in the southeast corner.
Bally’s anticipates commencing development in 2026, with some amenities expected to be ready for the 2028 MLB season opening pitch, which is when the A’s intend to move in. No budget estimate for the casino resort has been disclosed.
“Bally’s Las Vegas signifies a unique opportunity to transform the core of the Strip,” stated Bally’s chair Soo Kim.
Details of the Proposal…
- 56,000 square-foot gaming floor featuring 1,500 slot machines, 75 table games, and a dedicated 16,500 square-foot sportsbook
- Two hotel towers: one offering 1,800 rooms and the other 1,200
- A three-level theater encompassing 216,000 square feet with 2,500 seats
- 500,000 square feet dedicated to retail, dining, and entertainment
- An eight-story parking garage providing 2,500 spaces connected to the stadium, plus an additional 2,500 parking spots elsewhere on-site

Bally’s indicated that the development will elevate beyond street level, featuring a central area that can be accessed via escalators, elevators, and existing pedestrian routes connecting to Excalibur and MGM Grand. A 9-acre plaza will serve as the main entrance to the ballpark, complemented by a future 14,800 square-foot Vegas loop station.
The design of the venture is by Marnell Architecture, known for its work on the Mirage, Bellagio, and Wynn and Encore. The retail and dining spaces will be managed by the real estate firm JLL.
“Partnering with industry leaders like JLL and Marnell, and with the addition of Major League Baseball, we aim to create not just an integrated resort, but a monumental destination that brings together sports, entertainment, dining, and hospitality, uniquely achievable in Las Vegas,” Kim expressed.
The land is owned by Gaming and Leisure Properties (GLP), leased to Bally’s for an annual fee of $10.5 million. GLP has also granted the A’s the 9 acres designated for their use.
As reported by the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Clark County commissioners are set to discuss the A’s stadium development agreement on October 8, with a potential vote on its approval.
