The vibrant city of Las Vegas is set to welcome back one of its beloved poker rooms. Station Casinos has confirmed that live poker will make a comeback at Green Valley Ranch, conveniently located just a 15-minute drive from the famed Strip.

This poker room, previously closed due to the pandemic, is expected to reopen by December with 16 tables, a reduction from the 22 available before COVID-19, as noted by PokerAtlas.com.
Operating 24/7, the room will host various cash games and tournaments, including fixed-limit hold’em, no-limit hold’em, pot-limit Omaha, and Omaha hi/lo.
Understanding When to Fold
Green Valley Ranch’s poker space will mark the 19th active poker room in a city that once boasted over 60, though it would have been the 20th if not for the impending October 1 closure of Poker Palace Casino. Its new management, Truckee Gaming LLC, has plans to reopen without poker offerings.
Since the decline of the poker boom around 2012, nearly 40 poker rooms have shut down in Las Vegas. The area previously housing the Green Valley Ranch poker room had been transformed into a smoke-free slot machine zone following the pandemic.
Once converted to a slot area, poker rooms seldom return, given that slots typically yield higher revenue for casinos than poker. This is because poker does not generate a direct advantage for the house; casinos benefit from rake or tournament fees instead of player losses.
However, Station Casinos acknowledged the strong demand from customers as the driving force behind their decision to reopen.
“We’ve listened closely to the feedback from our guests and are thrilled to announce the revival of poker, coinciding with numerous exciting enhancements at our property,” stated Ken Janssen, General Manager and Vice President of Green Valley Ranch. (The resort is currently undergoing a significant $200 million renovation.)
