- Buffalo Bills dominate with 249 rushing yards in victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers.
- Challenging day for bettors as several surprising upsets unfolded on Thanksgiving Day.
- Patriots QB Maye seeks to enhance MVP prospects against struggling Giants on MNF.
Buffalo Bills fans (8-4) can breathe a sigh of relief today, as their team showcased a strong running game in a commanding 26-7 victory over the Steelers in Pittsburgh this Sunday. Coupled with significant defensive plays, the win helped mitigate concerns over their wide receiver capabilities.

This season, the Bills are clearly relying on their rushing attack, and they made a substantial impact against the Steelers on Sunday, accumulating 249 rushing yards, with James Cook leading the charge with 144 yards. A game-changing play was made when Joey Bosa sacked the Steelers’ QB Aaron Rodgers early in the third quarter, which resulted in a 17-yard fumble return touchdown by Christian Benford, effectively sealing the game.
Week 13 also featured several unexpected results.
“A heavy favorite is seen in the Patriots facing the Giants on Monday night, so it’s premature to judge the week’s outcomes… But it’s not been the most favorable week for gamblers, aside from some conspicuous upsets against typically favored teams like the Titans, Saints, Browns, and Raiders,” noted Joey Feazel, head of football operations at Caesars Sportsbook. “However, the latter afternoon games went in favor of the bettors, with three big favorites covering their spreads to balance the day.”
Disappointing Day for Bettors
The Packers, Panthers, and Bears emerged as the highlight underdogs, while the Bengals’ victory over the Ravens also delivered positive results for bettors.
According to ESPN’s NFL Football Power Index, the Patriots (10-2) have ascended to the top, with a projected record of 12.7-4.3, trailed closely by the 10-2 Broncos (12.7-4.3), 9-3 Rams (12.1-4.9), 9-3 Seahawks (11.8-5.2), 9-4 49ers (11.5-5.5), and 8-4 Bills (11.3-5.7).
The Jaguars lead the AFC South, the Bears are climbing in the NFC North, and the Packers managed an easy win over the Lions. On the other hand, the Chiefs seem to be faltering, and the Rams plummeted back to reality after losing to the Panthers on Sunday. The Broncos continue to embody the “Cardiac Kids” of this era, recently clinching a thrilling OT victory against the Commanders.
“The 49ers facing a rookie QB (Shedeur Sanders) and the Browns offers an easy scenario for holiday betting, and week after week we find ourselves rooting for the Titans, often ending up on the wrong side of the bet,” Feazel added.
Bills’ Emphasis on Rushing Offense
Sporting News ranks the Bills at No. 7 in their Monday power rankings, a rise from No. 9 following their disappointing loss to the Texans in a Thursday night game.
Those who placed bets on the New England Patriots to clinch the Super Bowl back in late August must be feeling quite pleased now, as the Patriots assert their position at the top in various NFL power rankings following Week 13, including being ranked No. 1 in the aforementioned Sporting News list.
BetMGM offered the Patriots at +8000 odds for the Super Bowl on August 26, generating just 1.3% of bets and 0.7% of the handle.

The Patriots are set to host the struggling 2-10 Giants in Monday night’s bout — a prime chance for New England’s quarterback Drake Maye to showcase his MVP aspirations. The Patriots, riding a nine-game winning streak, are -375 on FanDuel’s moneyline, with the Giants at +300. A silver lining for the Giants is that QB Jaxson Dart has cleared concussion protocols and will start tonight.
“It’s been mostly consistent support from bettors for the Patriots to extend their winning streak on Monday Night,” stated Adrian Horton, Senior Director of North American Sports Trading at theScore Bet. “New England is receiving about two-thirds of bets and 80% of the money wagered, laying a touchdown, with over 90% handle on the moneyline against the Giants in Foxborough.
“Bettors are also throwing their support behind the Patriots and Drake Maye in futures betting during this undefeated stretch. Since Week 9, New England has garnered the second-most bets (10.2%) and handle (11.9%) on Super Bowl Winner, only behind the Rams (18.9% of bets, 22.1% handle).
A glance at the MVP futures on FanDuel lists Matthew Stafford at -110, Drake Maye at +145, the Packers’ Jordan Love at +1000, Cowboys QB Dak Prescott at +1200, Josh Allen at +2700, while Bears QB Caleb Joseph has surged to +4000 following the Bears’ surprising 24-15 win over the now-struggling Eagles.
