- This marks Kalshi’s inaugural major media alliance
- New reports emerged the same day Kalshi confirmed a $1 billion capital raise
- Donald Trump Jr. serves as an advisor to Kalshi
Cable network CNN has reportedly struck a deal with Kalshi, resulting in increased visibility for the prediction market across the media outlet’s social media, streaming, and traditional television platforms.

Sara Fischer from Axios broke the story earlier today, coinciding with the announcement that Kalshi has successfully raised $1 billion in a Series E funding round, boosting its valuation to $11 billion—over twice the $5 billion valuation from two months prior.
Kalshi’s CEO and co-founder Tarek Mansour stated, “This collaboration represents the first significant news partnership for Kalshi, as we strive to solidify our position as the most trusted source for real-time probabilities related to significant cultural and political developments,” speaking to Axios.
While the financial specifics of the agreement remain undisclosed, Axios indicated that CNN is not compensating Kalshi for utilizing its data. An exclusivity clause is included, preventing CNN from engaging in similar partnerships with rival prediction market providers.
CNN and Kalshi: A Strategic Alliance
CNN, one of the pioneering cable news networks, continues to be a leading source within the industry, making its coverage of elections, economic trends, pop culture, and weather an apt match for Kalshi.
Interestingly, it was the 2024 presidential election that propelled Kalshi and other prediction markets into the spotlight. Before the exchange began offering contracts on football events this year, that election stood as the most actively traded event on the platform.
Kalshi provides yes/no options on various events beyond sports, aligning well with the scope of CNN’s reporting, reinforcing the rationale behind this partnership. Anticipations indicate that a Kalshi ticker will be featured during network broadcasts, with CNN’s chief data analyst, Harry Enten, likely highlighting the partnership occasionally.
For Kalshi, this agreement with CNN symbolizes its first major collaboration with a television network. Equally notable is the fact that Kalshi has outpaced competitors in securing a cable news partnership.
CNN and Kalshi: An Unlikely Pairing?
Noteworthy is Donald Trump Jr.’s advisory role at Kalshi, which may intrigue analysts observing the media and prediction markets. He holds a similar position at Polymarket, Kalshi’s closest rival.
This raises nuances given that CNN is perceived as a left-leaning outlet, having often taken an anti-Trump stance over recent years. As of now, Trump Jr.’s typically active social media presence has yet to acknowledge the Kalshi-CNN agreement.
During a recent interview with CBS News, Mansour was questioned about the company’s affiliation with Trump Jr. and appeared somewhat noncommittal while emphasizing that the prediction market collaborates with numerous advisors.
