International Game Technology (IGT) is embarking on a new journey as it merges with Everi, with Hector Fernandez officially taking on the role of CEO. He will lead the newly formed organization in alignment with Apollo’s strategic vision.
Upon obtaining the necessary regulatory approvals, Fernandez will manage the Gaming division, while there will be no changes in leadership for the Digital and FinTech sectors.
Hector currently resides in Las Vegas, home to IGT’s headquarters. His background includes steering a major competitor in the gaming technology landscape, focusing on business strategy and commercial success.
“I am both honored and eager to steer IGT into its forthcoming phase,” Fernandez expressed. “This organization boasts exceptional talent, robust industry connections, and immense potential. By uniting the legacy teams of IGT and Everi, alongside Apollo’s partnership, we can transform our operations, foster innovation, and enhance our customer service. I am excited to collaborate with teams worldwide to determine the next steps for IGT.”
Daniel Cohen, a Partner at Apollo and IGT’s Board Chair, reiterated the support for the enhanced leadership team, which combines veteran staff with new talent.
“Under Hector’s leadership, along with a skilled team from both the legacy IGT Gaming & Digital and Everi, along with significant new hires from within and beyond the industry, we are confident that the merged entity will accelerate growth, boost product innovation, and become an even more formidable partner to its clients,” Cohen remarked. “Hector embodies our dedication to cultivating a performance-driven, employee-focused culture, and we believe he will drive this team toward remarkable achievements.”
As a part of the restructuring, IGT announced that Nick Khin will resign from his position as interim CEO and head of the Gaming unit. He will transition to a role as strategic advisor for senior management and the board.
“Nick has made significant contributions to IGT’s evolution over the past twelve years,” stated Fernandez. “His guidance during this transitional phase has proven invaluable, and I extend my gratitude for his dedication and influence. We look forward to his continued support as we navigate this new chapter.”
Gil Rotem will continue leading IGT’s Digital division, while Darren Simmons remains at the helm of the FinTech segment.
