  • Political factors and a declining CAD contributed to a 23-24% drop in Canadian visitors to Las Vegas last year.
  • Derek Stevens, owner of Circa, Golden Gate, and the D downtown, aims to address this financial disparity.
  • His “At Par” promotion allows $1 CAD to equal $1 USD for various gaming, accommodations, and drink services until August 31.

According to a recent Abacus survey, 33% of Canadians mentioned that they would judge close friends or family for traveling to the United States. However, politics and a 2% drop in the Canadian dollar (CAD) against the US dollar (USD), which ended the year valuing roughly 73 cents USD, were major contributing factors to the 23-24% decline in Canadian tourists to Las Vegas in 2025 compared to the previous year. The two currencies haven’t been on par since 2013.

Derek Stevens — the visionary behind Circa, Golden Gate, and the D — is introducing an innovative promotion named “At Par,” which treats $1 CAD as equivalent to $1 USD for specific gaming, lodging, and drink services at his three downtown Las Vegas establishments.

Under this program, Canadian guests will receive $1 USD in benefits for every $1 CAD spent, independent of fluctuating exchange rates. This initiative, valid until August 31, 2026, not only incentivizes visits but also alleviates the stress associated with currency conversion.

“Canada has always played an important role in my narrative, so I hold a strong bond with our Canadian guests here in Las Vegas,” asserted Stevens. “My father studied at the University of Toronto, and I grew up in Grosse Pointe, Michigan, where our home overlooked the Detroit River toward Windsor.

“As a child, we could hear Canada — especially during Blue Jays games — and that experience has remained with me.”

Check out the offers exclusive to guests displaying valid Canadian identification:

  • Gaming: Canadian visitors can claim up to $500 CAD in slot promotional play, recognized at full US dollar value, by visiting Club One at Circa, the D, or Golden Gate.
  • Beverage: At selected bars — including BarCanada at the D, Overhang at Circa, and Bar Prohibition! at Golden Gate — eligible Canadian patrons may utilize At Par beverage pricing multiple times during their visit.
  • Hotel: Canadians checking in at Circa, the D, or Golden Gate will receive the At Par rate, paying the same amount displayed in US dollars, charged directly in CAD, with no exchange rate considerations.

Participation in the gaming or beverage promotions does not require a stay at Circa, the D, or Golden Gate.

“At Par is designed to honor that relationship and eliminate unnecessary challenges, ensuring Canadian travelers feel as welcomed downtown as they always have, without the burden of conversion rates, fine print, or complex calculations,” remarked Stevens.

Launching just ahead of the summer travel surge and a busy international sports schedule, the At Par program showcases downtown Las Vegas’ ongoing commitment to value-oriented experiences.
