MLS announces exclusive partnership with Polymarket for prediction market over multiple years

Major League Soccer (MLS) has revealed a new multi-year collaboration with prediction market platform Polymarket, designating the company as an official partner of MLS and an official partner of Leagues Cup in the U.S.

This partnership will enable the league to launch prediction market-based content across its digital ecosystems via an agreement made between Polymarket and Soccer United Marketing (SUM), the commercial division of MLS.

According to the terms, Polymarket officially becomes the unique prediction market partner for MLS, the MLS All-Star Game, MLS Cup presented by Audi, and Leagues Cup.

This collaboration will integrate Polymarket within MLS-owned digital platforms, where predictive market insights will be featured in fan-oriented content. MLS and Polymarket are excited to co-develop products focused on live match experiences and companion applications, using real-time collective fan thoughts tied to matches, moments, and overarching narratives across MLS and Leagues Cup.

“With soccer’s audience expanding and diversifying in the U.S., fans are seeking innovative ways to engage more meaningfully with the sport,” stated Shayne Coplan, Founder and CEO of Polymarket. “Through our collaboration with MLS and Leagues Cup, we can highlight real-time collective sentiments surrounding pivotal moments, matches, and narratives of the season, allowing fans a more immersive, data-driven way to enjoy the game and connect with the world’s most beloved sport.”

SUM mentioned that this partnership is part of ongoing initiatives to introduce fresh digital formats within league frameworks, with prediction markets acting as an additional engagement vehicle for fans following matches and tournaments.

“As MLS continues to expand, innovation is at the core of how we engage our fan base and develop the league,” remarked Gary Stevenson, MLS Deputy Commissioner and President of Soccer United Marketing. “The partnership with Polymarket empowers us to integrate prediction markets as a novel fan engagement method and establishes MLS as a frontrunner among global soccer entities.”

Safeguards regarding match integrity are also included in the partnership. These provisions consist of independent monitoring of trading actions and coordinated efforts between MLS, Leagues Cup, and Polymarket concerning markets related to league contests, according to the partners.

This announcement comes during a heightened interest in professional soccer throughout North America, particularly with the FIFA World Cup set for 2026, which will occur in the region. MLS and Leagues Cup are gearing up for increased exposure during this timeframe, with digital initiatives forming an essential part of league-level fan engagement strategies.
