PGA Tour announces fourth consecutive year of double-digit increases in golf wagering

The PGA Tour has announced a remarkable 20% surge in golf betting activity for 2025, marking a consistent trend of double-digit growth for the fourth consecutive year. This uptick in wagering is fueled by the expanding influence of digital platforms, physical sportsbooks, and casinos.

Notably, betting momentum intensified during the FedEx Cup Playoffs in August, with wagers on events such as the St. Jude Classic, BMW Championship, and Tour Championship witnessing a 50% increase compared to the previous year. The wagering volume at the Tour Championship held at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta saw a remarkable doubling.

This growth aligns with the PGA Tour’s enhanced collaboration with regulated sports betting platforms. The Tour has partnered with digital operators like DraftKings, while also expanding the reach of PGA Tour Live Betcast via the ESPN App.

The Tour anticipates additional growth in 2026, when PGA Tour Live Betcast, sponsored by DraftKings, will extend from six tournaments to 12, including prestigious events like The Players Championship, offering over 400 hours of streaming coverage.

A new distribution agreement with Sportsradar has also been signed by the Tour, ensuring that broadcasts will feature tailored information for golf bettors.

Furthermore, PGA Tour Fantasy Golf has experienced notable growth, which runs from the Sony Open to the Tour Championship. According to the Tour, weekly participation surged by 21%, with first-time players increasing by 23% thanks to updates made to the Fantasy Game.

In addition, the Tour has heightened fan engagement related to betting through unique events. On February 3, they hosted the “Showdown at 16,” sponsored by DraftKings, at the par-3 16th hole in TPC Scottsdale.

Eight influential golf content creators competed in a closest-to-the-pin contest leading up to the WM Phoenix Open, with the winning individual securing a $50,000 donation to a charity of their choice courtesy of DraftKings. Footage from this event will be shared across PGA Tour digital channels, creator platforms, and DraftKings.
