Evoplay Enters Ontario Through Partnership with BetMGM

Evoplay, a premier provider of online casino content, is making strides in the Canadian market with a new agreement with BetMGM, marking its entry into Ontario’s thriving regulated igaming scene.

Founded in 2017 and based in Limassol, Cyprus, Evoplay offers a diverse portfolio that includes video slots, table games, crash games, and instant play options, all designed with a mobile-first approach, seamless API integration, and data-driven innovations.

Expansion in Canada

“Ontario is setting exemplary standards for regulated online casinos, creating an environment where strategic partnerships are essential,” commented Alex Malchenko, Evoplay’s Head of Sales. “Our collaboration with BetMGM enables us to broaden our influence with a portfolio that has already seen great success in various regions.”

As reported by Canadian Gaming Business, Evoplay is aligning itself with one of Ontario’s top online gaming operators. The agreement allows the introduction of 18 Evoplay games, featuring popular titles such as Hot Triple Sevens, Hot Volcano, and Gold of Sirens Bonus Buy.

BetMGM reportedly holds a market share of 22% in Ontario, although iGaming Ontario, the regulatory authority, does not disclose specific market share details for licensed operators.

Leading the Online Casino Market

Having been an early entrant in Ontario’s regulated igaming market, BetMGM’s success has propelled them to be among the first operators to create a pre-registration platform for Alberta’s upcoming regulated market, competing against Alberta Gaming, Liquor & Cannabis’ Play Alberta initiative.

“Partnering with Evoplay significantly enhances our already impressive portfolio in Ontario with an array of successful titles,” said Oliver Bartlett, Vice President of Gaming at BetMGM.

Ontario shattered records with a staggering $9.5 billion wagered across its casino, sports, and poker platforms in December 2025. The online casino sector commands a dominant 87% market share of total wagers in the regulated market as of the same month.

CGA President Burns Speaks on Advertising Regulations

Paul Burns, President & CEO of Canadian Gaming Association, has penned an op-ed in National Newswatch addressing Bill S-211, advocating for a national framework to regulate sports betting advertising in Canada, designed to establish new government-led standards aimed at reducing risks associated with such advertising.

Burns is one of the prominent industry figures opposing Bill S-211, which is currently under consideration in the Canadian House of Commons after passing the Senate. In his article, he emphasizes that Canada already possesses a robust provincial regulatory system that is responsive and accountable. If enacted, the Bill could introduce unnecessary complexity and confusion, given that current advertising data suggests gaming accounts for about 2% of total television advertising volume.

Additionally, last month, the CGA, in collaboration with industry stakeholders and Ad Standards, unveiled a new Code for Responsible Gaming Advertising, which establishes clear guidelines to ensure that gaming advertising remains responsible, protects consumers, and builds confidence within the industry.

The code is applicable to all CGA members and signatories, covering all formats of gambling, gaming, or betting advertisements across various media, including digital platforms, social media, broadcasting, print, and outdoor advertising aimed at Canadian audiences.
