Set to unveil by mid-April, Club Fortune Casino North will replace the long-established Poker Palace casino, which shut its doors in October 2025. This transformation follows an extensive renovation led by its new owner Truckee Gaming LLC, who purchased the venue for $20 million on October 1.

The Nevada Gaming Control Board has recommended the approval of Truckee Gaming’s request for a license to run the upgraded establishment under the Club Fortune name. This will mark the 11th casino in Truckee’s collection, which spans several properties in northern Nevada, including the existing Club Fortune in Henderson.

Ferenc Szony, CEO of Truckee Gaming, reiterated that renovations to the interior are actively progressing. “We completely overhauled the inner space, including parts of the floor. Our rebuilding process is well underway,” Szony stated, emphasizing their goal to reopen swiftly and begin hiring. “If we can operate with about 80% readiness, we will. It largely depends on the construction timeline.”

The new Club Fortune North is set to introduce a Boomer’s Sportsbook, integrating horse racing and sports betting into its offerings. “This will be our first venture into horse betting,” Szony explained. “We are eager to see how it performs.”

The renovation encompasses both aesthetic and functional enhancements. Updates will include new slot machines, advanced gaming systems, an expanded kitchen and dining area, upgraded restrooms, and a reimagined bar space. The decision to not include table games will cut staffing from 125 to roughly 100 employees.

Nevertheless, Szony indicated that former staff will be given priority during the hiring process while maintaining their seniority.

Commenting on the property’s previous aesthetic, Szony remarked: “It had the chaotic look of if Circus Circus and Excalibur had a child. A transformation was essential. We are imparting a much more modern style.”

Truckee Gaming plans to shuffle slot machines across its venues and is pursuing the necessary licenses for this operation. Board Chair Mike Dreitzer inquired about Truckee’s investment strategy in North Las Vegas.

Szony clarified that the decision to acquire this property was deliberate. “We’ve been in search of another venue in the greater Las Vegas area for a considerable time. This location was enticing due to its prime positioning,” he explained.

He referenced Truckee’s past success in rejuvenating aging venues, like their Henderson site, as a model for this endeavor. “We are optimistic about this project, and we believe the upgraded space will be a significant asset to the community as it continues to evolve.”

Originally debuting in 1974 along Las Vegas Boulevard North, Poker Palace was known for offering table games and pari-mutuel racing.
