Currently, Beasley finds himself in a precarious situation—neither facing charges nor having received any clearance from the NBA.

By joining the Santurce Crabbers, a team in the Baloncesto Superior Nacional (BSN) league owned by the Grammy Award-winning artist who recently performed at the Super Bowl halftime show, Beasley aims to maintain his skill level while awaiting potential opportunities in the NBA, contingent upon a favorable investigation outcome.

Federal Investigation Updates

The BSN serves as Puerto Rico’s premier professional basketball league.

The current allegations against Beasley pertain to improper gambling on NBA prop bets during the season of 2023-24 when he played for the Milwaukee Bucks.

Reports in June indicated that the U.S. District Attorney’s office was conducting an investigation over gambling-related issues connected to NBA games. However, Beasley’s attorney claimed that no charges were filed and his client had been cleared in the federal case, while the NBA’s inquiry continues.

Potential Contract with the Pistons

The timing of Beley’s situation coincides with other ongoing gambling-related investigations, including those involving NBA player Terry Rozier and MLB pitchers Emmanuel Clase and Luis Ortiz, who have all been charged and are currently awaiting trial.

Last year, Beasley played for the Detroit Pistons after signing a one-year contract worth $6 million in June 2024. He was reportedly on the verge of inking a three-year, $42 million deal with the team when the federal investigation stalled progress.

Pursuing a Career in Puerto Rico’s Top League

Now at 29, Beasley is heading to Puerto Rico. As a capable shooting guard with an average of 16.3 points per game during the 2023-24 season with Detroit, he seeks to stay competitive. The Santurce Crabbers are based at the Roberto Clemente Coliseum in San Juan and boast 8 BSN championships, the latest achieved in 2007.

The BSN season is slated to commence in March, while NBA negotiations with free agents began on June 30 last summer, though formal contract signings only started on July 6.
