- Metallica has revealed plans for an eight-show residency at the Las Vegas Sphere starting October 1, 2026
- The unique “No Repeat Weekend” format guarantees distinct setlists for every Thursday and Saturday concert
- Metallica will be the inaugural heavy metal band to headline the Sphere, setting a trend for future acts
The iconic band Metallica is set to lead an eight-performance residency at the Las Vegas Sphere this upcoming fall, as they announced on Wednesday, February 25. Titled “Metallica: Life Burns Faster — Live at Sphere,” these shows will occur on October 1 and 3, followed by performances on the 15th, 17th, 22nd, 24th, and concluding on the 29th and 31st.

This highly anticipated announcement was not a complete surprise, as the band members had been hinting at it for months. It followed the attendance of all four members at the Eagles’ Sphere residency on January 30, 2026.
“About 12 seconds into opening night of Sphere with U2 back in ‘23, I thought, ‘We need to do this; it’s unexplored territory!’” stated Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich. “This residency allows us to reinvent our fan interactions during live shows. We are thrilled to unveil this to the world in six months and super excited to take it to the next level!”

Unique Weekend Experience
Continuing the tradition that was established during the band’s “M72 World Tour,” which kicked off in April 2023 in Amsterdam, Metallica promises no song repetition across their Thursday and Saturday performances.
This clever approach encourages fans to attend both nights, ensuring they won’t miss any of their beloved tracks. Tickets for the Sphere performances will be available in both single-night and two-night “No Repeat Weekend” packages.
Observations reveal that there are gaps in the Sphere’s schedule allowing for potential additional shows throughout December. The venue typically announces performances in limited date clusters and waits until they sell out before introducing new dates. This applies even to numerous high-demand acts like the Eagles and No Doubt.
With this residency, Metallica becomes the first heavy metal group to perform at the Sphere. However, recent comments from Tool drummer Danny Carey indicate they may not be the only ones for long.
Tickets for “Life Burns Faster” will be available starting at 10 a.m. PT on March 6. For details on pre-sales, enhanced experiences, and travel packages, visit metallica.lnk.to/MetallicaSphere.
