Las Vegas: Rio Hotel & Casino appoints new leadership group during significant overhaul

Rio Hotel & Casino has named Rod Turlan as its new president and general manager, marking a significant milestone in its transformation strategy under Dreamscape Companies.

Turlan, who has extensive experience with Caesars Entertainment, will manage all resort operations, focusing on strategic growth, enhancing guest experiences, and upgrading the property’s amenities. His mission involves fostering a positive team culture and incorporating new features into Rio’s development.

This leadership shift is part of a comprehensive strategic restructuring spearheaded by Dreamscape, which has committed resources to renovate suites, refresh casino offerings, and broaden entertainment options.

Alongside Turlan, Rio Hotel & Casino has welcomed several other key executives: Lori Ware as chief financial officer, formerly with Jamul Casino Resort; Ashley Lowe as senior vice president of sales, who previously worked for M Resort Spa Casino, a subsidiary of PENN Entertainment; and Vince Lentini as senior vice president of marketing, who has experience with Margaritaville at Sea.

As noted by Eric Birnbaum, CEO of Dreamscape Retail & Entertainment and a part-owner of the hotel, these appointments underscore the company’s investment in positioning Rio as a leading Las Vegas destination.

Now functioning under the Destination by Hyatt brand, Rio is being transformed into a suite-centric resort boasting over 1,500 newly refurbished rooms. Conveniently situated off the Las Vegas Strip on Flamingo Road, the property combines its unique Carnival-inspired atmosphere with modernized accommodations, expanded gaming experiences, and an increasing array of events.

The resort aims to attract a wide demographic, including families, group travelers, and long-stay visitors desiring more spacious accommodations. Features like complimentary parking and easy access to major attractions enhance its overall appeal.

As part of its renovation, Rio Hotel & Casino has launched numerous new dining establishments, including Tacos Del Rio for casual dining, High Steaks Vegas helmed by chef James Trees for a contemporary steakhouse experience, and Eggslut, a gourmet breakfast brand recognized for its elevated offerings. These new venues complement existing options like Luckley Tavern & Grill and Voodoo Lounge, creating an extensive food and beverage selection aimed at both tourists and locals.
