Tuberville, widely known for his success as the head coach of the Auburn Tigers football team, has held a position in Congress since 2021. Instead of pursuing a second term in the Senate, Tuberville declared in May that he would campaign to take over from term-limited Governor Kay Ivey (R).

Current polling indicates Tuberville is nearly guaranteed to win the Republican Primary on May 19. He currently holds a 19-point advantage over likely Democratic opponent Doug Jones, the last Democrat to secure a statewide office in Alabama.
