- Crown corporation OLG contends with 47 licensed private operators in Ontario’s dynamic igaming arena
The evolution of Ontario’s open and competitive regulated igaming market over the past four years has clearly shown that competition benefits the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG), the provincial crown corporation.

January Sportsbook Launch
In January, OLG launched a new sportsbook platform in collaboration with Kambi Group, a leading B2B sportsbook technology provider.
As a crown corporation wholly owned by the Ontario government, OLG operates gaming facilities and charitable gaming, offers province-wide lottery products, and manages online sports betting and igaming via its Proline brand and around 10,000 retail locations.
Market research by Blask indicates that Ontario uniquely limits the presence of grey market operators, who contribute only 19% to the province’s estimated revenue compared to a national average of 66%.
Bede Gaming’s React Native App
Following the exit of European online casino operator Casumo from Ontario, the province now features 47 licensed operators competing against OLG’s Proline platform, establishing itself as one of the most competitive igaming jurisdictions globally.
This week, OLG enhanced its mobile offerings by launching a new Bede Gaming React Native App. This upgraded application promises fast and seamless omnichannel performance, even during peak traffic, with a focus on personalized gaming experiences crucial for player retention.
“We are thrilled with the swift and effective transition to Bede’s React Native app, and the smooth experience for our existing OLG.ca players highlights the impressive collaboration from both sides,” stated Dave Pridmore, Chief Gaming Officer at OLG. “The innovative design and thoughtful support reflect the high standards we expect from our partners at Bede Gaming.”
User-Friendly Experience
“As OLG continues to prioritize enhancing our players’ experiences and meeting their expectations, we are excited to roll out more industry-leading upgrades as we expand digitally,” Pridmore added.
Pridmore emphasized the flexible nature of Bede’s technology, allowing for quick updates and enhancements to the app across various devices as player preferences evolve.
OLG employs mkodo’s GeoLocs for effective geolocation services.
“The successful launch of our React Native App demonstrates Bede’s unwavering commitment to our partnership with OLG and our shared enthusiasm for delivering operational efficiencies to their team,” remarked Andrew Humphreys, Chief Product Engineering Officer at Bede Gaming.
“I am eager about the additional competitive advantages our Bede App will offer; our flexible and cost-effective solutions will empower OLG to enhance its outreach and capabilities in the mobile-first market.”
