  • Rapper Offset is facing a $100K lawsuit from MotorCity Casino in Detroit over an unpaid credit line
  • The legal action was lodged shortly before Offset was shot outside a casino in Florida
  • MotorCity alleges a breach of contract due to an unsuccessful attempt to withdraw the funds

As rapper Offset recuperates from being shot near Florida’s Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, he is confronted with a $100,000 lawsuit related to a loan from a distinct casino. According to a legal complaint filed in Wayne County Circuit Court, and initially reported by TMZ, the MotorCity Casino Hotel in Detroit claims Offset has defaulted on a $100K line of credit he established in March 2024.

Unfortunate Casino Circumstances

The lawsuit details that following multiple failed attempts to reach Offset, the casino sought to withdraw the funds directly from his bank account, as outlined in the credit agreement. This attempt reportedly failed due to insufficient funds, leading MotorCity to file a lawsuit for breach of contract and fraud.

Filed on March 30, the lawsuit came just days before the shooting incident involving the former Migos member in Florida. A representative for Offset informed TMZ that he is actively working towards a resolution” regarding the unpaid debt.

This lawsuit adds to Offset’s recent financial troubles. Public documents reveal that the IRS has recorded a federal tax lien against him for over $1.5 million in unpaid taxes, which he subsequently resolved.

Additionally, former NFL player Dez Bryant asserted on X on April 7 that Offset owes him money, though this claim remains unverified and no legal action has been taken.

Offset was shot on April 6 in the valet area of the Seminole Hard Rock. According to Hollywood Police, the shooting followed a physical altercation between two groups.

Authorities have not released the identity of the shooter. Rapper Lil Tjay, present at the scene, was only arrested for a misdemeanor disorderly conduct charge, with police alleging he “encouraged his party to instigate a fight” prior to the shooting. His attorney has stated that he did not take part in the gunfire.

The conflict between the two rappers seemed to revolve around a debt of $10,000 that Offset owed to Lil Tjay.

Offset, whose full name is Kiari Kendrell Cephus, is reported to be in stable condition as investigations into the shooting and the civil lawsuit in Detroit proceed.
