Cash Wagers Totaling $9.52 Billion

Cash wagers experienced a 10% rise compared to February, surpassing the previous record of $9.52 billion set in January.

For reference, the cash handle in March 2025 stood at $7.95 billion.

As of now, the iGaming Ontario platform lists 45 licensed operators and 79 active gaming websites in the region, with several others in the process of obtaining AGCO licensing.

Revenue Rises by 13%

The Ontario market reported a total non-adjusted gross gaming revenue (NAGGR) of $387 million in March, reflecting a 13% increase from the previous month.

However, active player accounts fell by 5% to 1.235 million in comparison to February. On a positive note, average revenue per active player increased by 19% from February, reaching $313.

The casino segment led the market, continuing its trend since the regulated market’s launch in April 2022. March saw a record casino handle of $8.33 billion, capturing an 87% market share.

Poker Experiences Notable Growth

The handle for sports betting reached $1.08 billion in March, up 14% from February, holding an 11% market share. Meanwhile, P2P Poker reported a 36% month-over-month increase in handle, totaling $183 million and securing a 2% market share.

In terms of NAGGR, the casino sector accounted for $318.5 million, representing an 82% market share (with a 16% month-over-month rise). Sports betting earned $61.6 million (16% market share, 1% increase month-over-month), while poker reached $6.9 million (2% market share, a hefty 28% month-over-month increase).

Currently, poker operations are confined within Ontario’s borders, but this may soon change due to an ongoing court case seeking to expand play beyond provincial lines, which is currently under review by the Supreme Court of Canada.

Decline in Active Player Accounts

So far in 2026, Ontario has recorded a total of $27.8 billion in cash wagers, with operators reporting $1.13 billion in NAGGR.
