All three gaming establishments located in Primm, Nevada, are set to close permanently on July 4, 2026, based on a confidential staff letter disclosed by the reliable news source, X news page Las Vegas Locally on Tuesday.

The memo—a “notice of business closure and employment termination” from Affinity Gaming’s Primm Valley Resorts—explicitly states that Primm Valley Resort & Casino, Buffalo Bill’s Resort & Casino, and Whiskey Pete’s Hotel & Casino will “permanently cease all operations.”

It specified, “This decision will lead to the permanent termination of employment for all staff at these establishments.”

Primm Valley Resorts, which acquired the three casinos from MGM Resorts for $400 million in 2007, had previously closed Whiskey Pete’s in December 2024 and Buffalo Bill’s in July 2025.

Despite this, a representative for the company emphasized last year that the appropriate description was a “transition from 24/7 operations,” rather than calling it a closure.

Additionally, the termination notice also announced the closure of the nearby Primm Center gas station/convenience store and Flying J truck stop.

Declining Business in Primm

The small town, located 40 miles south of Las Vegas on the California border, has witnessed a steady decline in business over the last 20 years, with the pandemic serving as a significant blow.

In a stunning incident on July 18, 2024, Primm Valley Resort & Casino saw Lydia Salmen, 70, walk into its unmonitored cage and make off with $625,000 in cash and $27,000 in casino chips. This theft was only discovered when she and her husband were recorded on a police body camera during a separate visit to the property on June 25.

Primm’s 371,000 square-foot outlet mall, originally opened as the Fashion Outlets of Las Vegas in 1998, is now largely deserted, frequented mainly by YouTube livestreamers.

The letter from Primm Valley Resorts indicated that terminated employees “do not have bumping rights,” which refers to a contractual clause permitting more senior staff to take the jobs of less senior ones when their positions are eliminated.

Moreover, the communication reminded those affected that there is “no Union Representation.”

“Your employment is expected to conclude on or around July 4, 2026,” the letter stated. “All impacted employees are not anticipated to be recalled.”
