Construction of Ho-Chunk Gaming Beloit by the Ho-Chunk Nation is progressing as planned, anticipating a launch date for the casino segment on September 26, 2026.
Work on the site commenced in October 2024 at the intersection of Willowbrook and Colley roads in Beloit, Wisconsin.
The development blueprint features a gaming area that exceeds 240,000 square feet, hosting 1,500 gaming machines, along with live entertainment venues and a variety of dining options.
A hotel with over 200 rooms is also planned. Tribal representatives indicated that the number of rooms may expand based on market demand. The hotel is projected to open in mid-2027.
Ho-Chunk Nation President Jon Greendeer expressed that the resort will reflect Ho-Chunk cultural heritage through its artwork and design, highlighting the tribe’s historical ties to the Beloit area.
“We never truly departed from there,” he stated. “It remains a cultural landscape.”
Casino to Boost Local Jobs
The casino is expected to generate over 1,000 jobs in the Beloit region, along with opportunities for local suppliers and small businesses associated with its operations.
“It’s local businesses that essentially gain from an industry of this magnitude—hiring must be local, not from Minneapolis or Chicago,” Greendeer remarked.
Hiring events for the casino have already commenced ahead of its opening. The next recruitment session will take place from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on June 2-4 at Beloit College Library, located at 735 College Street in Beloit.
Competition Grows in the Area
The Beloit project is advancing as gaming operators brace for increased competition in the area.
Hard Rock Casino Rockford has revealed plans to introduce a hotel by late 2027. During the announcement, Hard Rock Casino Rockford President Geno Iafrate highlighted the Beloit development situated about 18 miles to the north.
“There’s no denying that competition exists. New players are entering the market just 18 miles north of us,” Iafrate stated. “We need to safeguard Hard Rock Casino Rockford and this region by expanding.”
Greendeer noted that competition is intrinsic to the gaming sector while addressing the project’s standing in Wisconsin and Illinois.
“Without a doubt, we represent the finest gaming industry in the Midwest,” said Greendeer. “In terms of rivalry, we’ve already succeeded in ensuring that we benefit both Illinois and Wisconsin, Rock County, and the city of Beloit.”
“We’ve established that foundation. We are committed to retaining our earnings within the community for mutual success,” he added.
Local Communities Analyze Economic Impact
Situated between the two casinos on I-90 is South Beloit. Mayor Tom Fitzgerald expressed optimism regarding the economic opportunities the new development could bring.
Fitzgerald noted that the city could experience a surge in traffic and commercial activity related to the casino, despite the fact that South Beloit will not share in casino revenues.
“I would be more enthusiastic if we were part of the profits, but we’re not,” Fitzgerald acknowledged. “We are merely observing as others benefit financially.”
