bet365, a leading global player in online sports betting and igaming, has recently registered with the Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis (AGLC) as the province gears up for its new igaming market launch on July 13.

BetVictor Joins The Roster
Following bet365’s announcement, the AGLC registry now confirms that there are 31 registered igaming operators.
For an igaming site to function under Alberta’s new regulatory framework, operators must first engage with the AGLC, the body responsible for regulatory oversight in the igaming sector.
Upon successful registration with AGLC, operators are required to enter into a commercial agreement with the Alberta iGaming Corporation (AiGC). The AiGC plays a vital role in managing and conducting operations, overseeing commercial agreements, ensuring compliance with anti-money laundering laws, addressing public complaints, and managing financial reporting.
Up to 70 Operators Expected in Alberta?
Currently, bet365 operates in multiple regulated markets globally, providing offerings such as sports wagering, online casino games, poker, bingo, and live betting options.
The company is prominently established in Ontario, having entered that market in 2022 when it launched its regulated igaming platform.
During the opening remarks at the recent SBC Summit Canada in Toronto, Dale Nally indicated that Alberta might ultimately see as many as 70 igaming operators entering the marketplace.
Launch Date: July 13
Nally pointed out that 37 operators have completed their registration and are prepared to launch on July 13.
“The reality is straightforward: Albertans are already placing bets online,” he stated. “The real question wasn’t whether online gaming was a reality; it was about establishing it within a regulated environment that has robust standards and transparency, ensuring player protections.”
“Alberta is entering this market with notable advantages. We possess one of the strongest economies in North America, a business environment that embraces competition and investment, and a government that asserts that clear regulations foster growth.”
Recent reports from CBC also hint that the government-operated Play Alberta platform could potentially be up for sale, as it prepares to compete with private market operators.
Additionally, BetVictor has been recognized this week as one of the newly registered igaming operators.
