  • A significant power failure disabled operations on the casino floor at the Red Rock Casino Resort for a duration of five hours on Friday, compelling the venue to rely on backup emergency systems and request additional personnel from affiliated properties.
  • The issue was resolved around 5 p.m., allowing for a scheduled concert by Tyler Hubbard to take place as intended.
  • Authorities are currently conducting an investigation to determine the cause of the outage.

A tripped circuit breaker disrupted the majority of the gaming floor at Red Rock Resort Casino on Friday afternoon, May 29. This unexpected blackout necessitated manual payouts for slot jackpots and extra assistance from other Station Casinos locations.

The outage impacted Station’s flagship casino just after noon on Friday, May 29, and wasn’t fully resolved until nearly 5 p.m., as stated by company officials. The blackout led to the shutdown of slot machines, dimmed lighting, and some areas of the casino functioning on emergency backup power while technicians hurried to identify the fault.

Guests quickly took to social media, sharing images and videos of inactive machines and employees verifying winners manually.

“Our entire team was mobilized to ensure a smooth transition during this unexpected event,” a representative from Station Casinos informed the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

Technicians spent the afternoon diagnosing the circuit breaker dilemma, and an internal investigation into the cause is still underway.

This incident adds to a troubling trend of operational malfunctions at major Las Vegas casinos in recent years. Power outages and technical issues—stemming from equipment malfunctions, weather impacts, or other external circumstances—are increasingly common, often necessitating quick action from both players and staff.

The most recent power outage in the Las Vegas region affected the Rainbow Club Casino in Henderson, Nevada, which was closed from May 7-9, 2026, due to a damaged power box caused by rainstorms.

Red Rock returned to regular operations in time for the Tyler Hubbard concert scheduled for that evening at the onsite Sandbar venue.

Responding to the challenge by calling in employees from its other local resorts was a part of the operator’s planned emergency protocol.
