- Teenager Facing Adult Charges for Allegedly Stabbing Three Horses
- Horse Valued at $350,000 Among the Injured
- Prosecutors Cite Intent and Cruelty in Request for Adult Trial
A teenage girl, just three months shy of turning 18, is under investigation for allegedly stabbing three horses during a barrel racing event at South Point on May 30. Clark County District Attorney Steve Wolfson has indicated she may be tried as an adult.

Wolfson stated on Tuesday that he is petitioning a juvenile court to send the case to adult jurisdiction, asserting that the severity of the alleged actions fulfills the criteria for such a transfer under Nevada law.
“These allegations involve calculated acts of extreme cruelty towards vulnerable animals, which have notably impacted the victims, their owners, and the wider equestrian community,” Wolfson articulated. “Our office takes cases of animal cruelty very seriously.”
The ‘Obsessed Stalker’ Allegation
The stabbings occurred early Saturday morning during the NBHA Supershow barrel racing event at South Point, where the suspect has been characterized as a competitor and, on social media, as an “obsessed stalker” by the owner of one injured horse.
According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, officers responded around 2 a.m. after reports of a horse injury within the facility’s barn.
Investigators quickly identified the teenager as a suspect, noting she had access to the barn and is believed to have used a knife to inflict several injuries on three horses named Rocket, Sully, and Detail.
Stabbings Close to Vital Areas
One of the horses was stabbed perilously close to its jugular, with a veterinarian indicating that the injury could have proved fatal had it been any closer, as stated by Wolfson.
One horse suffered five stab wounds, another experienced four, and a third had three, collectively amounting to 12 alleged stab wounds inflicted by the juvenile, according to Wolfson. One of the horses is valued at $350,000.
Each horse was in separate stalls during the attack, a detail Wolfson suggested indicated a “degree of premeditation.”
Facing Serious Charges
The teenager is looking at 12 charges related to the willful or malicious killing, maiming, or torture of horses, along with three felony counts for malicious destruction of property exceeding $5,000, according to the LVMPD.
Her next court appearance is set for June 4 at the Clark County Juvenile Court. A hearing to ascertain whether the case will move to adult court is anticipated to be scheduled thereafter, as per the district attorney’s office.
Casino.org has opted not to disclose the suspect’s name since authorities have not made it public. She is currently detained at the Clark County Detention Center.
