Kewadin Casinos plans hotel, gaming, and hospitality developments until 2027


This summer, Kewadin Casinos is set to embark on the next phase of a substantial capital enhancement initiative, with a range of projects planned for its five gaming locations across Michigan’s eastern and central Upper Peninsula to be completed over the next three years.

The forthcoming upgrades will focus on hotel refurbishments, development of RV parks, enhancements to dining options, and new family-focused entertainment facilities.

Kewadin Casinos has engaged Integrated Designs Inc. to deliver architecture and engineering expertise, while Gundlach Champion continues as the construction manager for these endeavors.

<h3>Scheduled Property Investments Through 2027</h3>
<p><strong>Kewadin Casino St. Ignace</strong> will commence guest room renovations in the fall of 2026. Additionally, a new RV park with full hook-up amenities is set to debut in spring 2027.</p>
<p><strong>At Kewadin Casino Sault Ste. Marie</strong>, multiple developments are underway, including the <strong>planned demolition of the East Wing structure</strong>, the original casino and hotel complex, starting in fall or winter 2026. The site is also slated to introduce <strong>a sports bar with virtual gaming bays and a new waterpark</strong> featuring zones for both kids and adults; construction for these two projects is scheduled to kick off in summer 2027.</p>
<p><strong>Kewadin Manistique</strong> has plans for a new RV park equipped with full hook-ups set for summer 2026. Renovations for the property's restaurant and bar are also on the agenda, though a timeline for these updates has yet to be determined.</p>
<p><strong>Kewadin Casino Christmas</strong> will see its RV park enhanced, including more full hook-up options starting in summer 2026.</p>
<p><strong>Meanwhile, renovations for the bar and deli at Kewadin Casino Hessel</strong> are planned for fall 2026. Additional upgrades to the cabins and RV park on-site, including 50-amp hook-up options, are in the pipeline, but specific timing remains to be announced.</p>

<p>“<strong>This phase will enable us to better fulfill those needs</strong> by upgrading our RV park offerings, enhancing the hotel at Kewadin Casino St. Ignace, and introducing more family-friendly experiences at Kewadin Casino Sault Ste. Marie, which will feature the only waterpark in Michigan's eastern Upper Peninsula,” he added.</p>

<p><strong>This latest phase follows a series of completed projects within the improvement program</strong>, which include a comprehensive renovation of the Kewadin Casino Sault Ste. Marie hotel tower, the introduction of new dining options, and the creation of a new main entrance to the casino.</p>

<p>Owned and operated by the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians, <strong>Kewadin Casinos manages five gaming properties throughout Michigan’s Upper Peninsula</strong>, offering over 2,000 slot machines, 26 table games, hotel accommodations, and various dining options.</p>
