  • Thamrong Hill has been indicted by a grand jury on second-degree murder due to fentanyl distribution to influencer Anunay Sood at the Wynn.
  • Footage reveals Sood’s fiancée purchasing $40 worth of fentanyl from Hill at a Wynn slot machine prior to her partner’s fatal overdose.
  • Hill was apprehended weeks later related to a separate fentanyl incident.

A grand jury in Clark County has charged Thamrong Hill, a 49-year-old resident of Las Vegas, with second-degree murder along with several drug-related felonies. Authorities allege that Hill sold fentanyl disguised as cocaine to social media influencer Anunay Sood, leading to his demise at Wynn Las Vegas in November. KLAS-TV/Las Vegas has obtained video evidence of the crucial drug transaction on the casino floor.

At 32 years old, Sood visited Las Vegas from India with his fiancée and a friend to partake in the prestigious Las Vegas Concours d’Elegance, which took place from October 30 to November 2, 2025. Wynn Las Vegas had invited Sood, who boasted nearly 1.5 million Instagram followers and featured among Forbes India’s “Top 100 Digital Stars” from 2022 to 2024.

Video footage shows Hill at a slot machine on November 4, when Sood’s fiancée approached him to inquire about cocaine. She later testified that Hill agreed to sell a small packet, which they assumed was cocaine for $40 after Sood withdrew cash from an ATM.

As reported by the Clark County Coroner, Sood perished from accidental fentanyl and ethanol toxicity.

The group returned to their hotel room, where both women later recounted they had consumed substantial amounts of alcohol and noticed the powder appeared unusually pale and fine. Sood proceeded to cut the substance into lines, snorted some, and applied a small amount on his fiancée’s gums. Within moments, all three lost consciousness.

Upon regaining consciousness, the women discovered Sood unresponsive, his lips blue and breathing labored. Emergency responders arrived to find both women vomiting, and Sood beyond help. They were subsequently taken to Sunrise Hospital.

Detectives later recovered a bag containing white powder from their hotel room. A member of the overdose response team noted that the powder’s grayish appearance resembled fentanyl rather than cocaine. A second bag found underneath a cushion tested positive for ketamine but was determined to be unrelated.

When the grand jury indicted him on May 22, 2026, Hill had already been in custody since December 2025 for unrelated theft and drug offenses, following an arrest where fentanyl and methamphetamine were located in his possession. He has a history of prior convictions related to robbery and weapon charges, having been released from prison in 2017.

Sood’s forthcoming court appearance in this case is scheduled for June 18.
