Great Canadian Entertainment has successfully finalized the transfer of Elements Casino Chilliwack to the Ts’elxwéyeqw Tribe, signifying another significant step towards Indigenous ownership within the British Columbia gaming landscape.

This agreement was initially revealed in November 2025, as part of a broader initiative through which Great Canadian Entertainment sold various casinos to Indigenous communities.
“Over the years, our communities have developed a diverse array of business ventures spanning commercial real estate, sustainable forestry, environmental protection, cultural conservation, and energy procurement,” stated Chief David Jimmie, President of Ts’elxwéyeqw Tribe Management Ltd.
Completion of Casino Transfer
“This acquisition signifies a crucial step forward in our expansion. Elements Casino Chilliwack is a well-established entity, and we are excited to incorporate gaming and hospitality into our business model. This transaction underscores our communities’ potential to excel and lead in the business sector,” Jimmie affirmed.
Located in the Fraser Valley of British Columbia, Elements Casino Chilliwack boasts over 300 slot machines, live and electronic table games, bingo, a variety of dining options, live entertainment, and more.
The Ts’elxwéyeqw Tribe consists of seven First Nations communities and represents the Original Peoples of the Chilliwack River watershed.
Advancing Indigenous Ownership
Ts’elxwéyeqw Tribe Management Ltd., headquartered in Chilliwack, manages the tribe’s cultural, economic, and business efforts.
“We are confident that under the leadership of the Ts’elxwéyeqw Group, this business is poised for a promising new era,” remarked Matt Anfinson, CEO of Great Canadian Entertainment. “For the staff and visitors of Elements Casino Chilliwack, as well as the surrounding community, we believe there is no better steward for the establishment.”
In March, Great Canadian Entertainment announced that it had reached an agreement to sell its eighth British Columbia casino to an Indigenous Nation.
Debt Reduction Initiatives
The proposed sale of Elements Casino Surrey to SE-MI-AH-MU Development Corp., the economic branch of the Semiahmoo First Nation, remains contingent on meeting financial obligations, obtaining regulatory approvals, and other standard closing conditions.
Previous media sources indicated that Great Canadian Entertainment anticipated raising approximately $650 million to $675 million from the sale of its B.C. casino assets to assist in reducing debt incurred after Apollo Global Management’s $3.3 billion acquisition of the company in 2021.
