It’s no secret that Spiegelworld executive Ross Mollison enjoys Formula 1, but has reservations about its impact on live entertainment in Las Vegas. Simply put, when F1 is in town, the essence of the Strip fades away as Las Vegas Boulevard transforms into the Las Vegas Grand Prix racetrack, severely limiting access for both vehicles and pedestrians to the city’s major attractions.
Three years back, Mollison — the creative force behind Absinthe — produced a show at The Cosmopolitan themed around F1 during the Grand Prix weekend, aiming to join the race festivities. Unfortunately, Lights Out has yet to make a return.
Now, it seems he’s throwing in the towel. Absinthe is set to go dark from November 16 to 29, 2026, using this hiatus to address necessary repairs to its tent in front of Caesars Palace.
Meanwhile, Spiegelworld’s other Las Vegas shows, including The Atomic Saloon Show at The Venetian and The Party at Cosmo’s Superfrico, will continue to operate as planned. Performances of Absinthe are anticipated to resume shortly after the renovation work is completed.
Plaza Expands Bolero Offerings
Bolero — The Show has added six more performances at The Plaza Hotel & Casino, extending its run through the fall season. This vibrant production celebrates Latin music and culture, combining live vocals, dance, orchestral arrangements, and storytelling.
Produced by Las Vegas singer/songwriter Adán Alejandro, the show chronicles the history of the bolero genre, which originated in 19th-century Cuba. Instead of concentrating on one character, the performance delves into the musical legacy, showcasing diverse influences from Latin America and the Caribbean.
The show showcases a live orchestra led by Adrian Ortega and choreography created by Enrique Lugo. Guests are invited to arrive early to participate in complimentary salsa lessons before each show, while post-performance festivities continue with dancing and music at Club Bolero.
The additional performances (on August 1, 15, and 29, September 12 and 19, and October 3, 2026) are scheduled for Saturdays. Tickets, starting at just over $80, including taxes and fees, are available for purchase here.
Historic Westside Production of Sister Act
Sister Act: The Musical is set to be staged at The West Las Vegas Theatre on August 14-15, with free admission. This production is brought to the stage by Broadway in the Hood, a nonprofit organization based in Las Vegas, focusing on performing arts education to help young individuals build confidence, creativity, and leadership skills.
The West Las Vegas Theatre, a 300-seat venue, frequently hosts similar programs that celebrate local culture and artistic expression. Three performances are planned, with doors opening one hour before showtime.
