Royal Caribbean is currently under scrutiny regarding its security measures after a video depicting two women embroiled in a casino bar brawl gained traction on social media.
The Daily Sneed posted a video today (Aug. 7) featuring an altercation between a Black woman and a white woman aboard a cruise ship at the casino bar.
The video opens with the Black woman repeatedly instructing the white woman to “f**k off.” As others watch the situation unfold, the Black woman states, “She came in my face. You see her come in my face.”
The white woman appears unfazed, maintaining a smile and refusing to step back.
“Get the f**k out of my face,” the Black woman insists, with the white woman still smirking at the bartender.
“Tell her to get out of my face. Tell this b***h to get out of my face,” the Black woman continues. “F***k you in my face for? Back up!”
The situation escalates when the Black woman slaps the white woman, reaches for what seems to be a pint glass, and threatens to hurl it at her as the white woman walks away, prompting intervention from two men.
The Black woman repeatedly challenges, “What you gonna do?” “What’s up?” and “What happened?”
Where’s the Security?
Details regarding the cause of the heated exchange remain unclear. However, the viral footage has sparked concerns over the security protocols aboard cruise ships.
The video, lasting for 78 seconds, shows no signs of security personnel, even as tensions rise and the situation becomes tumultuous. No ship staff appears to intervene until the very end when a server carrying a tray of drinks approaches the Black woman.
This incident reportedly took place on Utopia of the Seas, the very same Royal Caribbean ship that recently debuted a digital lottery product. As of Aug. 7 at 5 p.m. EST, Royal Caribbean had yet to comment on the viral footage.
The post shared by The Daily Sneed, an X account with 141.9K followers known for revealing crime-related videos, was nearing a million views by Friday afternoon.
At the time of writing, Royal Caribbean held the 17th position on X’s “Global Trending” posts. Carnival, which some mistakenly thought was the implicated cruise line, ranked 27th.
The video was originally uploaded by Instagram user “dukeofhoagies,” who was gambling in Casino Royale at the time of the incident.
Safety on Cruise Ships
Casinos are typically monitored closely and come equipped with enhanced security measures compared to many other establishments. Access often necessitates passing through security checkpoints, and on-site security staff are prominently visible.
Generally, cruise ships are regarded as secure vacation choices, with larger vessels having specialized security teams. Nevertheless, sensationalized social media videos like this one can potentially undermine that perception.
